The characteristics of the 66 research reports as a whole are summarised in the Results section of the Research Guide. The characteristics include country of origin, sample size, methods, and so forth. The Scorecards, on the other hand, summarise the characteristics of only the set of studies that provided evidence for linking an individual child care factor to childrens development.

Scorecards go a step further by also describing characteristics of each individual report that contributed to the evidence. The reader is provided with the reports citation, abstract, and a summary table of the study characteristics. The full-text of the report, where available, can be obtained as well.
