Research Works! for child literacy,
CCKM,
and the
Nova Scotia Read to Me! Family Literacy Program
worked together to create a
Catalogue of
government and community programs that deliver books and
other reading incentives to families of newborns.
National and international programs were identified from an
exhaustive Internet search and by experts in early
literacy. These practitioners and researchers helped
create the coding categories that were applied to each
program. Coordinators of Programs listed in the Catalogue
were invited to revise
their entries, and to suggest new entries.
Programs described in the Catalogue are also featured in individual
one-page
Fact
Sheets for easier reading. The success of the CCKM Program
Catalogue initiative was captured in the comment of one
Program Coordinator: If only this
information had been available to draw upon before we
launched our
program!
