CCKM responded
to a group of parents who needed a quick survey of evidence
and advice for tutoring children in Grades 4 to 8 who struggle
with reading. Much of the research on literacy is focused
on beginning readers and not on older children. CCKM used
its search strategy for the
Volunteer Tutoring Review of Evidence
to locate studies relevant to the grade levels, and to
parents as tutors. The four best studies were SPOTLIGHTED. In
collaboration, the
Research Works! staff
provided a summary of online resources.
